Hello Everyone,

I went to see Warwick Hilton on Friday. It is at the junction of the A46 and junction 15 on the M40. Easy to find, although a lot of roadworks on the A46. Hopefully they will be all done by April next year!

NRAS lunch and Weekend away
Saturday 24th (lunch) and Sunday 25th April 2010

The young lady was trying to match the deal we had at Leicester last year but of course the room rates are different at the various Hiltons. Single rooms are £10 pn dearer than Leicester. Other rates the same.

Accessibility:

There is a step at the front door but a lowered curb to one side for wheelchair access. There is a large car park and there are 8 parking spaces for disabled people. I will ring on Monday to confirm that we get free parking.

The hotel is comfortable and in good decor. The reception and bar area has low ceilings and, in my opinion, does not give the pleasant feeling of light and spaciousness that Leicester had. There is a lounge in front of the bar area where we could gather together and socialise, although not much room between furniture. They do not have a lot of guests at the weekends – it is mostly business people during the week. The floors are good – either wood or carpet, but all are flat. The only steps I saw on the ground floor were to the pool and these can be avoided by using the wheelchair lift.

They have 4 ‘accesssible’ bedrooms with walk-in showers – but I didn’t feel there would be much manoeuvring room for a wheelchair ! The one I saw was on the ground floor.

The dining room was on two levels but the higher level had a ramp if anyone could not manage the 3 steps. The lower level was all flat. We could have whatever table plan we wished. They would do the 3 course buffet, with tea or coffee afterwards for £15 per head. Children are half price. You would pay for your meal and drinks at the till on the way out (or add to your room bill if staying in the hotel).

There are accessible toilets for men and women on the ground floor.

The leisure centre only has a small swimming pool and there were steps with a handrail into the water. They have a hoist if anyone could not manage the steps. They have a gym, steam room and sauna. There is a lift to the pool area for wheelchairs. Otherwise, there are about 4 steps to negotiate. There is a large disabled/family changing/shower room.

Warwick Rates for room deals are:

For two people:
Dinner, bed and breakfast £110
Bed and breakfast £70
Family room: 2 adults, 2 children – Dinner, bed and breakfast £130. Bed and breakfast £100
1 person:
Dinner, bed and breakfast £85
Bed and breakfast £65

Breakfasts are full English breakfast, buffet style.

They offer a similar package to that given at Leicester. Well, you would expect it as it is the same chain.

In my opinion, Leicester is more accessible and spacious in all areas and has a larger swimming pool. Rooms for single people are £10 pn cheaper. Leicester Hilton is at Junction 21 of the M1.

So, I propose we have a poll to see whether the majority want Warwick or whether you want to go back to Leicester (I have checked with Leicester and the dates are available and the deal would be the same as last year). For those who want to go to Warwick, Leicester is only 45 minutes away.

It is in your hands! The poll will end on Monday 14th December. If the poll doesn't appear on here, it's because I can't figure it out. Confused You'll just have to post with the word 'Warwick' or 'Leicester'.

Nah - can't find a way of creating a poll, even though it does give the impression that we can do it. So, for the time being. One word will do on this thread.

BigGrin Well Thanks Ann for that .She is good you know .

I had rung Warwick and asked this and that .But it needed someone too go over really and Kind Ann offererd as she is closer then me .
I think because Ann is going too have her Ankle done and won,t be walking or driveing it should be at Leiscester as we know that hotel
ticks all the boxs .
Its a lot of work getting every thing right and Leiscester would save some work .( well i think it might )
And its 70 miles from me and i don,t mind going over if needed .
And i am willing to do anything thats needed .From when Ann goes in hospital she is a wonderfull guide and i could ask her for guideance .And last year she done the job well .
I think someone must take over now as Ann will be out of Atcion i don,t mind if its me .

But its just what i think ..Will go along with what ever and be happy .

As Ann has very kindly been over to check things out, I'm very willing to accept her advice.

Hi Amanda,

I don't know whether they accept Tesco vouchers. Just 'google' the Hilton, Leicester website and you will be able to ask them via email. I think Jenni said that they did. I expect they all do.

Best wishes, Ann

They do accept tesco vouchers and if you need a second room for children, they will put you next door and the second room is HALF PRICE.

Just a reminder folks - the poll ends on Monday so that we can book the dates firmly.

Just write 'Leicester' or 'Warwick'.

Thanks.

Leicester train station is approx 3miles from the Leicester Hilton...

For Warwick Hilton, nearest train stations are Warwick or Warwick Parkway - again approx 3 miles
